(BPRW) Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association Uplifts Leadership in Maternal Health Care

(Black PR Wire) Detroit, MI – Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA) presents its 8th Annual Seminar, “Uplifting Leadership in Maternal Care” on Friday, October 13, 2017, 8 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. This is a full day conference that takes place at Henry Ford Hospital, Buerki Auditorium, 2799 W. Grand Blvd., Detroit, MI 48202. The seminar has received the support of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Henry Ford Health System, Blue Cross Complete of Michigan, Michigan Education Trust and Evenflo Feeding.

The Seminar is designed to facilitate and promote broader learning within the maternal and child health field while helping to achieve the organization’s goal “to have national impact on the reduction of racial disparities in breastfeeding success for black families”; support its mission “to reduce racial inequities in breastfeeding support for black families”, and to enhance its value proposition “to optimize the first food experience for black families through direct service, education, and advocacy”. The plenary address, panel discussions and keynote speaker will increase attendees’ understanding of breastfeeding, doula care and perinatal health while highlighting ways to uplift, acknowledge and support industry leadership.

Kiddada Green, founding executive director of BMBFA states, “During our Seminar we are intentionally uplifting both traditional and non-traditional leadership. We realize that it takes a multi-faceted approach to positively impact the health of mommies and babies. That’s why we’ve invited a diverse group of experts to present innovative and impactful strategies.”

At past seminars, attendees have stated, “The group discussions with panels are very inspiring. Honestly this is the best conference I've attended in years; and I go to many. Something magical happened in the discussion. I feel inspired to make change in the community."

Onsite registration is available. Be prepared for an amazing learning opportunity. You can become one of nearly 100 registered attendees who are excited to participate in an informative and engaging event.

This seminar is approved for 5.5 contact hours by the Michigan Nurses Association, the Michigan Social Work Collaborative, the Michigan Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and CERPs provided by Lactation Education Resources.
