(Black PR Wire) Muncie, IN—With everything that has transpired throughout the year, it is important to spread holiday cheer. Several local organizations have teamed up to make ensure that twenty Muncie families celebrate Christmas with gifts. Families at seven local Daycare Centers received some Christmas cheer.

NAACP Muncie Branch vice president, George Foley said, “Children in the care of seven local daycare centers had wish lists full of items they would like for Christmas. We wanted to make that happen for them.” The Muncie Delaware County Black Chamber of Commerce, Indiana Black Expo Muncie Chapter, Muncie Branch NAACP, and Forward Vision have partnered to help provide those gifts.

Daycare recipients included: Precious Hearts Development Center, Wee Walkers Child Care Center, Little Gem’s Daycare, Matties Little Bee’s Child Care, Miss Dora’s Home Daycare, The Kids Coloring Box (The Kid’s Coloring Box Too) and Destiny Christian Academy.

“There are so many families in Muncie and Delaware County who are struggling to provide the basic needs for their families given the Corona Virus pandemic and higher unemployment rates. With the generosity of these four African American organizations acting as sponsors and donors, Christmas for Muncie families will be a little merrier and brighter, “says WaTasha Barnes Griffin, President of the Indiana Black Expo Muncie Chapter and CEO of YWCA Central Indiana.

Foley said, “In the times that we are in, an ounce more joy in your hearts and their hearts can speak volumes.” Kisha Davis, owner of The Kids Coloring Box, said, “Our families were so relieved to have this financial support. We thank all the organizations who supported the Daycares in the African American community. I encourage everyone to find a way to help others this holiday season.”

“We want to share the true meaning of Christmas and continue to bring love to our community each year,” said business owner Bernisa Elliott. WaTasha Barnes Griffin agreed saying, “This is something that everyone in Muncie, Indiana can get behind. We will be calling on our community, in a big way, to accomplish our goal for 2021, so get ready.”
