(Black PR Wire) New York, New York - National Congress of Black Women Names Michelle Mitchell Organizing Chair for Metro New York Chapter.  Michelle Mitchell has shown proven leadership in a wide cross-section of society and will be a great asset to the National Congress of Black Women.

About: Michelle Mitchell Organizing Chair for Metro New York Chapter of the National Congress of Black Women - Michelle Mitchell has certification in Computer Systems Technology and has worked for companies such as Credit Suisse First Boston, SONY, Goldman Sachs, and Yahoo. Inc. During the early 2000s, Michelle created an online support and empowerment group for women of color called: The Phenomenal Women Group. It's Facebook page has 100k members and has developed into an App/ Online community for Black Women and Women of Color.

In the summer of 2019, Michelle applied and was chosen out of a pool of 1000 persons to be part of NASA Social, a program under the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Nasa Social formerly called NASA Tweetup is a program to provide opportunities for NASA's space enthusiast to learn and share information about NASA's missions, people, and program.

In early 2020 Michelle was chosen as a mentor for the Global Hack, the biggest online hackathon in the world fighting to battle the problems we are facing as a global society due to the COVID 19 pandemic.


Michelle is a Former Board member to the BBALP (Bisila Bokoko African Literacy Project), Former Long Beach, NY Branch NAACP  VP 2003, She has memberships in, African American Chamber of Commerce of Long Island (LIAACC). National Council of Negro Women, NAACP, Urban League of Long Island, St. George's Society of New York, The New York Caledonian Club, New York Women Chambers, and IVY

Michelle is passionate about STEM and believes that we need to have more black girls involved with STEM programs, Michelle wishes to utilize her relationships to assist this need with the memberships, she has with the Planetary Society and The National Space Society. While not working as a volunteer for the many charitable organizations that she is a member of, she enjoys spending time contributing to a few online publications and time with her family. 

 

About: Ms. S Monet Wahls Organizing Vice-Chair - Simone-Monet Wahls began ameliorating the lives of future leaders in 1989 when Future Executives, Inc. (FE) was founded. She collaborated with schools in her community while working simultaneously in the entertainment field in various capacities. S. Monet created a “Pen Pal Career Exploration” program, which allowed students to gain insight into a career interest via letter writing to adults in various careers.

Simone-Monet was promoted to a Central Administrator in 2003. For over two decades, she has worked with principals, teachers, parents, and students to enhance instructional practices for English language learners, special needs, and at-risk students. S. Monet has obtained several certifications and training which contribute to the work she does with today’s youth and young adults. In 2011 and 2014, the White House Business Council invited her and a number of business leaders from around the country to the White House to talk about business development and competitiveness. Several of the business owners in the room talked about how critical portions of the Jobs Act would not only aid the economy but also help current and future entrepreneurs grow, hire, and succeed.

Simone-Monet Wahls has received an NAACP NYCHA Branch “Women on the Move” award, advises several executives including school administrators and leaders of companies, and served two years on the College Board’s Dream Deferred Advisory Committee.

The National Congress of Black Women, Inc. (NCBW) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1984, dedicated to the educational, political, economic and cultural development of African American women and their families. NCBW also serves as a non-partisan voice and instrument on issues pertaining to the appointment of African American women at all levels of government, and to increase African American women's participation in the educational, political, economic, and social arenas. Currently, NCBW provides opportunities for women for leadership and decision-making positions in government, non-profit organizations, and the private sector.

NCBW’s mission is to educate youth on the responsibilities of good citizenship and the importance of engaging the political process, while also providing opportunities for internships and other learning experiences at the local, state, national, and global levels.

The National Congress of Black Women's founding chairs were Shirley Chisholm and Dr. C. Delores Tucker.   The current chair of the organization is Dr. E. Faye Williams, Esq.
