(BPRW) Shamika Mazyck, Dr. William Payne Join BDHEA Board of Directors

New appointments strengthen governance leadership across healthcare, legal, clinical, and strategic advisory sectors as BDHEA honors the service of Founding Board Chair John Daniels.

(Black PR Wire) The Black Directors Health Equity Agenda (BDHEA) is pleased to announce important updates to its Board of Directors, including the appointment of two accomplished leaders whose expertise will help advance the organization’s next phase of growth and impact.

Joining the Board are Shamika Mazyck and William Payne, M.D. Their combined experience across healthcare delivery, governance, legal affairs, and innovation further strengthens BDHEA’s mission to advance equitable health outcomes through leadership at the highest levels of decision-making.

At the same time, BDHEA extends deep gratitude to John Daniels as he concludes his Board service after years of visionary leadership and foundational contributions to the organization.

“BDHEA was founded on the belief that leadership at the highest levels can drive meaningful change in health equity, and that tenet is reflected in the leaders joining our Board,” says BDHEA Board Chair Caretha Coleman. “We are thrilled to welcome Shamika Mazyck and Dr. William Payne to the Board. I also want to honor the enduring contributions of John Daniels, who has left an indelible mark on this organization and the communities we serve.”

NEW BOARD APPOINTMENTS

Shamika Mazyck

Ms. Mazyck is a healthcare attorney with Quarles, where she advises clients at the intersection of law, regulation, and care delivery. Her practice includes work with pharmacies, drug manufacturers, and provider organizations on complex regulatory, licensing, and compliance matters, particularly involving innovative models of care.

Prior to law school, Ms. Mazyck built a successful career in environmental consulting and occupational health. A BDHEA Founding Member, she has also served on the Board of Directors for Indiana Youth Group and currently serves as a member of its Capital Campaign Committee.

William Payne, M.D.

Dr. Payne is an orthopedic surgeon, healthcare executive, and founder and Chief Medical Officer of Big Heart Health. He previously led a multispecialty physician group in Chicago, expanding its clinical staff and significantly increasing organizational revenue.

A passionate advocate for health equity and improved patient outcomes, Dr. Payne is a BDHEA Founding Member.

BDHEA recognizes Mr. Daniels for his exceptional service and leadership. As Founding Board Chair, he helped shape the vision that brought Black board directors and executive leaders together to address longstanding inequities in healthcare through governance, influence, and action.
