(Black PR Wire) From August 13-19 the 14th African Diaspora International Film Festival D.C. – in collaboration with its longtime partner in Washington DC the Africa World Now Project - will showcase a lineup of 23 titles coming from 18 countries. The names of Rolf de Heer, Menelik Shabazz, Raja Amari, Rubaiyat Hossein, Skinner Myers and Allen Reisner represent a rich variety of talented filmmakers featured in ADIFF DC 2021! 

Some of the titles selected come from prestigious festivals including The Venice Film Festival, Slamdance, TIFF, FESPACO, Berlinale and The PanAfrican Film Festival, just to name a few.
 
Special events in ADIFF DC 2021 

Opening Night - The Sleeping Negro -- A young black man, simply identified as “Man,” must resolve the personal meaning of his blackness when his white boss orders him to commit fraud to benefit the corporation. Struggling with an overwhelming sense of shame for going through with the illegal demand, Man seeks consolation by discussing his discomfort with a black former friend and his white fiancé. It does not go well...The Opening Night virtual screening to be held on Friday, August 13 @ 7PM EST will be followed by live Zoom Q&A with director Skinner Myer.

Betrayl of a Nation is an experimental documentary that indicts the U.S. Government on 18 charges, for crimes committed against Black and Brown citizens. The Gala virtual screening to be held on Saturday, August 14 @ 7PM EST will be followed by live Zoom Q&A with director Brandi Webb.

Murder in Paris -- US PREMIERE!

MURDER IN PARIS is a political crime thriller that traces the motives for the assassination of ANC Chief Representative, anti-Apartheid activist, Dulcie September. The story travels from the heart of Paris in March 1988 to the pursuit of justice in 2021.  The Centerpiece virtual screening to be held on Sunday, August 15 @ 1PM EST will be followed by a live Zoom Q&A with director Enver Samuel.

Festivals have become the neighborhood theater that screens those rare films that enhance the cultural life in a city. ADIFF DC enjoys having played this role in Washington D.C. and its surrounding areas for the last 14 years. This year, the festival is longer, with a richer editorial line and available online in Washington DC, Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia.  

Tickets are $15 for Opening Night, Gala, Centerpiece, and Closing Night; $10 general admission.  ADIFF Chicago All Access Pass is $95.
