Graduate Business Students organize a fundraising campaign to help Haitian earthquake victims
( BLACK PR WIRE) ( April 7, 2010) ATLANTA, GA – Students in the Clark Atlanta University (CAU) Graduate School of Business have kicked off a campus wide fundraiser in support of the people of Haiti, left devastated in the wake of a 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit the country on January 12, 2010. As the world sprung into action, so did the students of CAU with a fundraising campaign called “CHANGE Haiti.” Students hope to collect $5,000 in pocket change in support of the cause.
CHANGE Haiti is a university-wide loose change campaign that launched on March 1st and ends April 30th. This idea of MBA and MA Students enrolled in the Entrepreneurship Course has now morphed into a university wide campaign. The goal is to raise $5,000 by enlisting the help of CAU students, faculty, and staff to donate their loose change throughout the duration of the campaign, hence the name “CHANGE Haiti”.
According to Chauncey Wilson, 2nd Year MBA Student, “If everyone collectively donates a small amount we can impact Haiti in a big way.”
The loose change will be collected on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in highly trafficked areas on campus, the student center, Carl and Mary Ware building, and the Robert W. Woodruff Library. The proceeds will be given to support the Haiti Education Foundation and will sponsor children to attend school.
To create more awareness for Haiti and the campaign, students have designed “CHANGE Haiti” t-shirts that will be sold on campus. The students are also seeking corporate sponsors to match the amount raised.
