(BPRW) MTTG Joint Venture Donates $1M to MLK Memorial Foundation, Creates Regional Scholarship Program for High School Seniors

(BLACK PR WIRE) – Washington, D.C. (March 3, 2011) – The Washington, D.C. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation’s leadership today announced a $1 million gift from the memorial’s design build joint venture team, MTTG. MTTG is a diverse design, construction management, and building team comprised of professionals from McKissack & McKissack, Turner Construction, Tompkins Builders, and Gilford Corporation. The gift will support the memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. honoring Dr. King.

To promote Dr. King’s messages of hope, democracy, justice, and love, MTTG Joint Venture has created the MTTG DREAM Design Build Scholarship program for high school seniors. In its inaugural year, MTTG will award up to ten $5,000 scholarships to minority high school seniors from the Washington metropolitan area who are pursuing a post-secondary education in architecture, engineering, or construction management fields or attending a trade school following graduation. With the support of subcontractors, MTTG is proud to have the opportunity to contribute to the education of the next generation of architects, engineers, and builders. A Memorial honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be built on the National Mall, situated adjacent to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and in a direct line between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials.
