(BLACK PR WIRE)--BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Michael Brownlee is joining NBC4 Los Angeles as Co-Anchor and General Assignment reporter, starting November 7. Brownlee will co-anchor the station’s new mid-day newscast alongside Lucy Noland and serve as a General Assignment Reporter for the early morning newscast “Today in LA.”

“Michael has the right combination of on-air vitality and journalism experience that is well-known in the greater Los Angeles area,” said Steve Carlston, the newly named President and General Manager at NBC4 Los Angeles. “He is a dynamic Anchor who will further strengthen our newscasts.”

Since 2003, Brownlee served as a general assignment reporter and weekend anchor at KCOP’s My 13 News in Los Angeles, where he covered a variety of feature, local and community news stories. Previously, he was a Reporter at KCBS Los Angeles starting in 2000.

“NBC4 LA is home to some of the most talented, respected and sought after journalists in the market and to be part of this incredible team is truly an honor for me,” said Brownlee, a San Diego native who started his broadcasting career in radio. In 1995, he joined NBC’s KYMA in Yuma, Arizona as General Assignment Reporter and quickly moved into an Anchor post for the station’s evening newscast. Later, he joined Real TV as Correspondent and Producer from 1996 to 1999.

Brownlee’s connection to television and broadcasting stems from his parents. His father worked three decades in programming at CBS’ KFMB; his mother had a long career as a film editor and director at KGTV and KUSI. In addition to his news career, Brownlee has made appearances in such shows as Everybody Hates Chris, Boston Legal, Charmed and Strong Medicine. He’s also been cast in such big screen hits as Bruce Almighty and most recently War of the Worlds.

Brownlee received his B.A. in Broadcast Journalism with a Sociology minor from San Diego State University. He is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.

Brownlee resides in Los Angeles with his wife and 22-month-old baby girl.
