(BPRW) TACOLCY TEENS RE-INTRODUCE YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL AT MURAL UNVEILING THAT HONORS HOW THEY SEE COMMUNITY & THE MEMORY OF A FALLEN CLASSMATE

(BLACK PR WIRE) – APRIL 25, 2012 - (Miami, Florida) – Teens have used art to express themselves and how they feel about their community on the newest mural in Liberty City being unveiled today, Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 6 p.m. by the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) at TACOLCY, at the center, 6161 N.W. 9th Avenue in Miami.

The brand new mural on TACOLCY’s front wall is drawn around the theme “What Community Means to Me.” It includes scenes that depict various aspects of how teens see their community as well as a memorial portrait the council wanted to include as a way to honor the memory of a teen whose life was ended by gun violence last year. The teen’s family will be present at the unveiling.

This event is one of the first in a series of monthly events that will be hosted by the council at TACOLCY. Upcoming projects include: a monthly Let’em Know Café Evening, a College Readiness Fair and a Students’ Rights Workshop.
