(BPRW) FCAA HONORS 15 FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS AT ANNUAL BLACK ACHIEVERS OF EXCELLENCE LUNCHEON

(BLACK PR WIRE) — Miami, Florida – The Family Christian Association of America, Inc. (FCAA) held its 29th Annual Black Achievers of Excellence Awards Program, on Wednesday February 20, 2013 at the Don Shula Hotel in Miami Lakes, FL.

The Black Achievers of Excellence Program, chaired by Marc O’Ferrall, of The O’Ferrall Management Group, honored 15 Black men and women for their outstanding leadership in the workplace and the community. This program is a partnership between FCAA and local corporations, which is a way to introduce students to excellent role models who excel in various career fields they aspire to pursue. The program also serves a public forum for honoring African American professionals in celebration of black history month.

Some of the corporate sponsors and supporters include: Baptist Health South Florida; Florida Memorial University; Miami Dolphins; One United Bank; Publix Super Markets, Inc. and Sharpton, Brunson and Company, P.A.

Our major fundraising event for 2013 is the Annual Sustaining Membership Campaign, which is headed by City of Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert, II, Honorary Campaign Chairman. The Sustaining Membership Campaign is an annual drive that seeks to generate funds for the operation of FCAA programs and to increase its membership. “Community sustaining support is necessary and important to organizations, to undergird operations and maintain independence from government grants and other funds. Sustaining funds are vital to the success of non-profit organizations and are also used to match necessary grant requirements”, says Richard Chisholm, FCAA President/CEO.

This Sustaining Campaign kicked off in February with the theme: “Aiming for the Goal Line to Help Youth Shine”. Honorary Chairman Mayor Gilbert encouraged volunteers to tell others about the work of FCAA and to exceed the campaign goal of $100,000 before the campaign comes to a close in May.

FCAA, incorporated on February 9, 1984, is a non-profit, social and human services organization. FCAA serves communities and helps its members achieve independence through emphasis on Christian values, strong families, and self-determination. FCAA is open to any family interested in its mission, membership and programs. The organization programs centers around youth development, family services and sports.
