(BPRW) Cheyney University's New Head Women's Basketball Coach to Run Team Together Summer Basketball Camp for Youth

(BLACK PR WIRE) – CHEYNEY, PA. – Cheyney University's new Head Women's Basketball coach Kyle Adams announced that the University will sponsor a four day basketball camp from August 5-8.

The camp is for boys and girls ages 7-17. Cost of the Team Together Basketball Academy will be an affordable $85 per camper for the entire session. Cost includes a camp t-shirt, certificates of completion and evaluations from each camper's team coach. At the conclusion of the week, every camper will receive report cards on their progress in the areas of basketball skills, attitude, and character development.

"I'm really excited about the opportunity to open our campus to young people from the surrounding area. As a child, I never had an opportunity to attend basketball camp but I had great experiences with my high school coaches and that led me to want to coach basketball," Adams acknowledged. "As a young coach, I got to work at a lot of basketball camps and was able to see first-hand the transformative effect a camp can have on a young person's life. As a young coach, I learned that the most important relationship that a child will develop during a week of camp is the relationship that they develop with their coach.

Adams has planned a well-rounded camp that really works the boys and girls hard. "It's a combination of an instructional basketball camp with fundamental skills and development at the forefront, but bigger than that," Adams admits. "We'll work in a lot of programming that deals with character development and sportsmanship so that these boys and girls become better people. Sports should be used as a catalyst to teach skills for life and that's what we're going to do during those four days of camp--in addition to learning the game."

Adams is no stranger to Cheyney University. He did some coaching for men's basketball while an undergraduate student at CU before graduating in 1999 with a BA in Psychology. He received his MEd in Coaching and Leadership from the University of Rio Grande in Ohio. For the last two years, Adams was the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach for the Cheyney Wolves. He goes into his third year at his alma mater as Head Coach.

Adams, who's been coaching basketball for 15 years, has a great coaching staff for the summer camp, comprised of current CU basketball players and players from other colleges, youth, high school and college basketball coaches. In addition, speakers will come in to talk to the kids and, on the final day, a financial advisor will talk to parents and campers about managing money and starting to already prepare for college.

A liberal arts university, Cheyney University of Pennsylvania hosts signature programs such as the Keystone Honors Academy, the Call Me Mister teaching program, the Aquaculture Research and Teaching Laboratory and the accredited Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management program.
