(BLACK PR WIRE) – The City of Miami Gardens has a new home and a great reason to celebrate! The City will hold its State of the City Address and New City Hall Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, beginning at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the new City Hall, 18605 NW 27th Avenue in Miami Gardens, Florida. The state-of-the-art building is the only Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design public facility in America. Tours of the building will begin at 3 p.m. and run every 30 minutes throughout the day, until 5:30 p.m. Tours will resume after the State of the City Address and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The Grand Opening Celebration will immediately follow. Pending weather, the reception will be a rooftop celebration (top floor of the parking garage). The event is FREE and open to the public.
A key highlight of the event will be the delivery of the State of the City Address by the Honorable Oliver Gilbert, Mayor of the City of Miami Gardens. The Mayor will address the current state of the City of Miami Gardens and share his plans for future growth. Key topics to be addressed include the General Obligation Bond, public safety, and the police chief appointment.
“The City of Miami Gardens has a lot to be proud of – our city progress and our ability to cultivate possibilities for success,” expresses Mayor Gilbert. “Much has happened since my first address and I will highlight the key accomplishments of the past, present and future.”
Mayor Gilbert is a lifelong resident of the City of Miami Gardens. Mr. Gilbert was sworn in as Mayor in August 2012, making him the second person to hold this prestigious position.
The City’s 11th Anniversary is a major milestone. This is the first time that the State of the City Address will be delivered from the New City Hall, a shining landmark in its own right which provides a proven path to a more sustainable building.
Miami Gardens is the third largest city in Miami Dade County. From restaurants, shopping, and concerts to parks, recreation, and sports, the City of Miami Gardens offers something for everyone. The City is home to Calder Race Course and Sun Life Stadium – home of the Miami Dolphins and University of Miami football teams, and two world-class universities – Florida Memorial University and St. Thomas University.
