(BPRW) FLORIDA SUPREME COURT JUSTICE JAMES E.C. PERRY TO SERVE AS GUEST SPEAKER AT FLORIDA MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY'S FALL CONVOCATION CEREMONY

(BLACK PR WIRE) – MIAMI GARDENS, FL (September 8, 2014) – On Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 10:30AM, Florida Memorial University President Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis will be joined by members of The Florida Memorial University Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and students to welcome Florida Supreme Court Justice James E.C. Perry who will serve as the university’s Fall convocation guest speaker. Justice Perry will be introduced by celebrated South Florida attorney H.T. Smith, Esq.

Justice Perry was the first African-American appointed to the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit in 2000. Following his appointment to the circuit court bench, Justice Perry ran unopposed to retain his seat. Justice Perry, who was appointed by Governor Charlie Crist, is the 85th Justice to take office at the Florida Supreme Court since statehood was granted in 1845.

The Fall convocation ceremony is the official gathering of the University family and community -at-large to welcome freshmen into the Academy as well as a time to celebrate the University’s rich historical legacy.
