(BPRW) 32ND ANNUAL MALCOLM X FESTIVAL: SATURDAY MAY 18, 2024

(Black PR Wire) Los Angeles, CA – The Foundation for Arts, Mentoring, Leadership & Innovation (FAMLI, Inc.) will host the 32nd Annual Malcolm X Festival on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 1pm-6pm at the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center. The festival will celebrate the Black Arts Renaissance in Leimert Park and feature a symposium with renowned artists and community leaders.

Los Angeles, CA – The Foundation for Arts, Mentoring, Leadership & Innovation (FAMLI, Inc.) will host the 32nd Annual Malcolm X Festival on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 1pm-6pm at the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center. The festival will celebrate the Black Arts Renaissance in Leimert Park and feature a symposium with renowned artists and community leaders.

The “Architects of the Leimert Park Black Arts Village Renaissance” symposium will bring together influential figures who have shaped the cultural landscape of Leimert Park. Speakers include jazz vocalist Dwight TribleKAOS Network founder Ben Caldwell, master drummer and community arts advocate Timothy Morganfield, World Stage co-founder Torrence Brannon-Reese, and musicians Aaron Hall, Kensha Bell and Brandon Forte.

“The Malcolm X Festival pays tribute to the immense cultural legacy and ongoing renaissance of Black arts in Leimert Park,” said Torrence Brannon-Reese, MSW and co-founder of FAMLI, Inc. “We are honored to bring together these architects of the Black Arts Movement to reflect on the history and celebrate the future of this vibrant community.”

The festival will also include a Malcolm X Street Sign Co-Naming Dedication, honoring Councilwoman Heather Hutt for her ongoing support of arts and culture in the Leimert Park community.
