(BPRW) Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Announces the 52nd Annual Legislative Conference

Amazon returns this year to sponsor the nation’s leading policy forum featuring programming that empowers and uplifts marginalized communities

(Black PR Wire) Washington, D.C. – The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) is thrilled to launch registration and unveil the theme for the highly anticipated 52nd Annual Legislative Conference (ALC): “Securing Our Democracy. Protecting Our Freedoms. Uplifting Our Culture.” This year’s conference is September 20 – 24, 2023, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., with Amazon returning as the title sponsor.

This year’s Annual Legislative Conference theme underscores the pressing need to fortify our democracy, safeguard our fundamental freedoms, and celebrate the richness and vibrancy of our cultural heritage. It also serves as a call to action for individuals and communities to unite in the pursuit of a just and equitable society for all.

“In these challenging times, it is essential that we come together to address the threats to our democracy and protect the hard-fought freedoms we cherish,” says Nicole Austin-Hillery, President and CEO, CBCF. “The Annual Legislative Conference provides a platform to examine these issues comprehensively, foster dialogue, and identify actionable solutions.”

Additionally, the CBCF is proud to announce that Delegate Stacey Plaskett and Senator Raphael Warnock will serve as honorary co-chairs for the 52nd Annual Legislative Conference. Their leadership, dedication, and commitment to advancing the rights and well-being of all Americans make them exemplary representatives for this year’s conference.

The 52nd Annual Legislative Conference promises an engaging lineup of informative sessions, interactive forums, and networking opportunities. Attendees can look forward to thought-provoking discussions on policy, social justice, economic empowerment, healthcare, education, and more.

“As we confront the multifaceted challenges of our time, the Annual Legislative Conference empowers us to uplift and amplify the voices of marginalized communities. Together, we can build a future that honors the principles of justice, equality, and inclusion,” states Representative Terri A. Sewell, Chair, CBCF Board of Directors.

Amazon is a proud partner of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and presenting sponsor of the Annual Legislative Conference for the second year in a row. Candi Castleberry, Global Vice President of Inclusive Experiences and Technology, Amazon, reaffirmed the company’s partnership commitment, saying, “We will remain steadfast in our effort to support the work of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. As our team moves with bold tenacity to influence the future of technology in these unprecedented times, we must take a collective approach to address the needs of our communities.”

The ALC is widely recognized as one of the nation’s premier policy forums on issues impacting African Americans and the global Black community. Each year, it brings together a diverse range of lawmakers, activists, scholars, and thought leaders to engage in critical discussions, explore innovative solutions, and chart a path forward for progress and equity.
