(Black PR Wire) (HOBART, IND) - The greens of River Pointe Golf Course in Hobart, Indiana were alive with purpose and passion on Saturday, June 28, 2025 as the Henry E. Bennett Foundation successfully hosted its annual Golf Tournament. More than just a day of sport, this event served as a powerful engine for change, raising vital funds to empower the next generation of leaders through education, culminating in the awarding of 17 significant scholarships to deserving students from Northwest Indiana.
The energetic atmosphere was a testament to the collective spirit of generosity and community upliftment. Though a friendly competition ensued on the golf course, the true winners were the bright young minds whose educational journeys will now be significantly eased thanks to Foundation's unwavering commitment to support college-bound young men from the region.
A highlight of the day was the scholarship presentation ceremony to 17 worthy recipients, which unfolded during the tournament. Derek Taylor, President of the Henry E. Bennett Achievement Foundation, offered greetings, emphasizing the Foundation's belief in education.
"Education is not merely the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire," Taylor remarked. "Today, we are igniting 17 new fires, empowering these remarkable young scholars to illuminate their own paths and, in turn, brighten the world around them."
Ryan C. Williams, Scholarship Committee Chairman for the Gary (IN) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, introduced each of the 17 scholarship recipients, sharing inspiring highlights about their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and aspirations. The audience, comprised of golfers, community leaders, and proud family members, offered applause, recognizing the immense potential standing before them.
The 2025 Henry E. Bennett Achievement Foundation Scholarship recipients include Kolin Gladney, Emilio Munoz, Camren Denton, Colh Igue, Daniel Robinson, Jacob Garcia, Jordan Wiggins, Isaiah Manley, Jayden Neal, Alex Rodriguez, Emmanuel Julius, Jaylen Williams, Malik Smith, Jordan Jones, Phillip Pace, Royce Thompson, Jr., and Matthew Maldonado.
"Each of these scholars represents the very best of Northwest Indiana, poised to achieve greatness in their chosen fields.” said Williams. “As Nelson Mandela wisely stated 'Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. These 17 young men embody that truth. They are not just receiving scholarships; they are receiving an investment in their boundless potential, a catalyst for their dreams, and a testament to our collective belief in a brighter future."
The Henry E. Bennett Achievement Foundation continues its vital work year-round, and the impact of the annual Golf Tournament reverberates far beyond a single day. Individuals and organizations are invited to support the foundation’s efforts by donations to help underwrite the educational expenses for young scholars pursuing higher education goals.
