-Award-Winning Event Set for January 21 – 22, 2026 in Miami Gardens –
(Black PR Wire) MIAMI, FL – The Jessie Trice Community Health Foundation (JTCHF) will host their 15th Annual Science and Engineering Fair. The event, committed to increasing our youth’s reliance on science, is the brain trust of David Williams Jr., Vice Chair of the JTCHF Board, and former councilman in the city of Miami Gardens. This year, the Science and Engineering Fair is also presented in part by St. Thomas University.
“This event is unlike any other in that it helps to expose students to science, engineering, health and technology components that will inspire their young minds to seek future endeavors in these fields,” says David Williams Jr. “It began as a vision 15 years ago and has grown into a powerful platform for our students. The JTCHF team is honored to host it for the first time, setting the pace for future doctors, scientist and leaders of tomorrow - today.”
Students from various schools throughout north Miami-Dade are preparing now for their winning projects. These schools include: Barbara Hawkins Elementary, Brentwood Elementary, Bunche Park Elementary, Carol City Elementary, Crestview Elementary, Golden Glades Elementary, Lake Stevens Elementary, Miami Gardens Elementary, Myrtle Grove, K-8 Center, Nathan B. Young Elementary, Norland Elementary, North Dade Center for Modern Languages, North County K-8 Center, North Glade Elementary, Norwood Elementary, Rainbow Park Elementary, Robert Ingram Elementary, and Scott Lake Elementary.
Students first submit their projects at the school level for judging. There are two requirements for participation: (1) Compete on a school level and be selected as one of the top participants; and (2) Engage male participation (father, brother, uncle, cousin, teacher, or friend) during the development, implementation, and creation of the project. The top scoring projects at the school level will automatically be entered into the JTCHF Science and Engineering Fair for judging and ranking.
The JTCHF Science and Engineering Fair is set for Wednesday, January 21 with the Science and Engineering Fair Competition from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at St. Thomas University, 16401 NW 37th Avenue, Miami Gardens, FL. It concludes on Thursday, January 22, with the Participant Awards Ceremony from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at the JTCHS Barbara Jordan Health and Wellness Center, 20612 NW 27th Ave, Miami Gardens, FL.
Over 150 students are expected to participate for cash prizes ranging from $25 – $500 for the most unique project. Judges from various fields will critique student projects and the top five students will be recognized with cash prizes.
