Powerhouse Trio Promises Insider's Look at the Comedy Pioneer's Battle for Creative Control

(Black PR Wire) LOS ANGELES, CA – Following an exciting initial announcement, Seeing Redd, LLC — the production entity working directly with the Estate of Redd Foxx — today confirmed the accelerated development of the biopic tentatively titled "Seeing Redd," a feature project chronicling extraordinary life events of the trailblazing comedian and cultural icon. The project brings together a powerful creative team showcasing a unique perspective to Redd Foxx's legacy: Bill Duke ("A Rage In Harlem"), directing and bringing a deep, dramatic lens to the trailblazer's complex life; Roger M. Bobb ("For Colored Girls"; "Reasonable Doubt"), producing via Bobbcat Films; Tip "T.I." Harris ("Ant-Man"; "American Gangster"), acting as executive producer under his Grand Hustle Films banner, driving the project's dedication to authenticity and inspired by personal admiration of Foxx's comedic genius. 

The authorized biopic is rapidly progressing, with screenplay development underway and driven by ongoing discussions with industry-leading production companies and content distributors. 

"Seeing Redd" is officially approved by the Estate of Redd Foxx, providing unique access. The film will heavily focus on Foxx's life as an undaunted changemaker during the production of his iconic sitcom, "Sanford and Son." 

Beyond his comedic genius and personal challenges, Redd Foxx was a social pioneer, and this film will chronicle his fearless, high-stakes, behind-the-scenes battle against network executives, demanding industry equality and cultural authenticity. Foxx’s unprecedented demands for Black writers, directors, and other talent changed the landscape of television — a story that remains as relevant as ever. 

Committed to capturing the brilliance and bravery of a man who was ahead of his time, the powerhouse trio behind the project has built the narrative upon true, previously unearthed details of Foxx's life provided by creatives Michael Greene and Sean McBride. 

Legendary director/actor Bill Duke is shaping the historical and dramatic context, ensuring a riveting portrayal of Foxx’s personal and professional battles. 

"Redd Foxx didn't just change comedy — he changed the industry," said Duke. "His courage behind the scenes created opportunities that still resonate today." 

Seven-time NAACP Image Award winner Roger M. Bobb is leveraging his expertise and immense revenue-generating prowess to steer production of the biopic.

As executive producer, Tip "T.I." Harris is harnessing his noteworthy influence in the film industry.
