Transforming Maternal Health Together; Countdown Begins: Final Chance to Register for The 2025 Motown Experience: Birth & Breastfeeding Conference
(Black PR Wire) Detroit, MI — Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA) is gearing up to welcome attendees from throughout the nation to The 2025 Motown Experience: Birth & Breastfeeding Conference, happening September 24–26, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan. With onsite registration available, this is the last opportunity to join the country’s most impactful gathering dedicated to advancing birth and breastfeeding health outcomes.
Eighteen years strong, BMBFA’s Motown Experience unites voices, celebrates Detroit’s legacy, and advances maternal and infant health. This year’s theme honors Detroit’s cultural legacy while advancing critical conversations on maternal and infant health with a keynote address from Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom, MD, MS, FACEP, the nation’s first state-level Surgeon General and a nationally recognized maternal and child health leader.
“Dr. Wisdom’s leadership embodies the spirit of Detroit, brave and resilient,” said Kiddada Green, Founding Executive Director of BMBFA. “Her influence at every level makes her the perfect voice to guide us into the future of maternal and infant health.”
In addition to the keynote, the conference offers a robust lineup of sessions designed to inform, inspire, and equip attendees across the maternal and child health spectrum. From exploring ancestral traditions in Big Mama: Matriarchal and Ancestral Practices and advancing birth justice in Black Parade: The Fight for Black Birth Justice, to centering and strengthening families in Daddy Knows Best and uplifting care in BlaQ and Proud, the sessions reflect the breadth of perinatal experiences. Participants will also focus on provider well-being through Are We Okay, sharpen practical skills in Come Through, Doula! and Spilling the Milk on Lactation, and examine accountability in We Got Receipts and sustainable funding in Show Me the Money!. Anchored by signature experiences like Triple Crown: Babies Win. Families Thrive. Communities Transformed! and On the Ground: Detroit’s Maternal Child Health Immersive Experience, the conference blends knowledge, skill-building, and lived experience to drive meaningful change.
With so much to gain, now is the time to secure your spot. Registration is available onsite and at bmbfa.org/conference. And for an added highlight, join us for An Evening of Art, Soul & Legacy with Lauren J. Turner, an inspiring fundraising event on Thursday night. Tickets can be purchased separately.
